Securing Edge AI Workshop

CYBERSECURITY WORKSHOP FOR RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED DEVICES

Note๐Ÿ“… Date & Location

October 21, 2026 ยท Ulster University, Belfast

About the Workshop

Connected devices are embedded throughout our homes, cars, factories, and critical infrastructure, yet device security has often taken a backseat to other considerations, such as power management and latency. As the prevalence of edge devices increases, security challenges, such as resource efficient cryptography, securing over-the-air updates, and defending against side-channel attacks, need to be addressed. This workshop aims to inform participants about the risks to edge devices and provide the tools to defend against them.

Workshop Topics

  • How AI is changing the Cybersecurity Landscape: Are the new tools introducing new threats?
  • Threat modelling for constrained device: Identify and mitigate security risks at the edge.
  • Lightweight cryptographic protocols: Secure communications and authentication with minimal overhead.
  • Secure firmware & OTA updates: Protect device integrity with secure boot and update strategies.
  • Edge network intrusion detection: Detect anomalies and attacks in resource-constrained networks.
